Shizui is the Gym Leader of the inclusive resort-turned-city mini-island that is Humilau. He specializes in water-type pokemon and has grown up with them his whole life. Like usual pokemon game characters, not much is really known about his back story, aside from a few things gleamed here and there via conversation. It's clear that Shizui has grown up with water pokemon and lived by a coastline for all his life just by looking at him: swimming all day, doing what he pleases (always water-related), fishing (by hand as well as rod, probably), and not to mention that crazy deep tan that he's got. Yes that dark brown skin is a tan. It's clear the man spends all his time when he isn't in the gym out-of-doors, and loves every minute of it.
Being from the pokemon world, Shizui has always done things a little differently - while fishing up pokemon for food like we would fish, he also fishes up friends in the form of various water pokemon, probably how he caught all his own. He carries himself in such a carefree way that his past probably hasn't been filled with much stress or hardships, and its difficult to believe anyone could grudge him for much of anything. Two years ago from the games current point in time, a team by the name of Team Plasma tried to separate people and pokemon from one another... and Shizui has absolutely no clue about them. They caused such a fuss, but Shizui didn't hear a word about it: if it doesn't have to do with the ocean, he doesn't really get involved in it. He's in his own little marine world. Even with the new Team Plasma running around trying to freeze cities and towns, he hasn't heard a peep about it, and doesn't thinks its really his responsibility (like other Gym Leaders) to try and stop them.

□ Abilities/Powers: An outstanding swimmer, experienced angler and water pokemon trainer/Gym Leader. Also all pokemon characters have this weird thing where they don't run out of air underwater, yeah idk either. He's also ridiculously good at jumping out of water, something that's said to have been learned via Mantine, a manta ray-like pokemon that can jump so high from the water it looks like it's flying.
